1920s Persian Sarouk Carpet
This tan-beige field carpet from the interwar period has a spacious pattern of four elaborate rosettes and secondary palmettes and sprays. The border is less finely detailed with alternating in and out facing palmettes and thin intervening leaves on a navy ground. The overall tonality is lighter than the richer red Sarouks from western Persia from this period.
