Early 20th Century Turkish Oushak Rug
This mansion sizes square Oushak shows a light peachy-rose field with a surprisingly small, well-ordered all-over pattern of ragged cruciforms, goose-neck forked leaves and octofoil rosettes, set within an equally neat slate border in the Kufesque Caucasian style. The field pattern is also mildly Caucasian and the carpet reflects the popularity of geometric Caucasian scatters on larger room size pieces from both Turkey and Persia in the 1920s.
