Early 20th Century Turkish Carpet
A two-tone palette emphasizing medium brown with a light green border is uncommon with older Oushak rugs. The all-over pattern of horizontal bars with sawtooth lozenges, symmetrised palmettes, diagonal leaves and oblique dot arrays has no specific name, but it seems to be of an ultimate textile origin. The unobtrusive earth tones are neutral enough to pair with almost any furniture type or period. Our dating circa 1920 is probably conservative.
