Early 20th Century American Navajo Carpet
Maybe Teec Nos Pas, but surely influenced by Caucasian weaving, but with a classic Navajo palette emphasizing flannel grey, ecru, black, camel and red. The abrashed field shows two lightly connected, multiply stepped and hooked panels with ecru centers. Angular, squared twisted partial borders frame the sides and in each field corner has an arrowhead cross. Well-articulated pattern and in excellent condition.
