19th Century Persian Kurdish Runner Carpet
The diagonal stripe pattern, with little flowers in each band, has been borrowed from the Caucasus, as has the ivory star and diagonal bar border, although a typically informal Kurdish flair has been added. The colors are slightly muted, but the wide palette includes medium and dark blue, apricot, soft yellow, light brown and rose in this c. 1890 Kurdish runner.
