19th Century Caucasian Karabagh Gallery Carpet
The Karabagh region is adjacent to Persia and Iranian influences are especially evident in their large carpets such as this dark blue, mina khani c. 1890 rug with a medium blue rosette and triple flower main border. The design is semi-geometric and, although informal, is totally in sync with more urban carpets.
