Early 20th Century Turkish Borlou Oushak Carpet
Early 20th Century Borlou Oushak Carpet ( 15'4" x 19'6" - 467 x 594 cm )
Lots of palmettes on the sandy beige ground, but only a few are accented in Dark amber. There are further details in yellow-tan in this generally open, tone-on-tone all-over pattern reminiscent of the Persian “Shah ‘Abbas” design. The main border shows a rigorous in-and-out palmette and trapezoidal meander. The Oushak and Sultanabad markets a century ago overlapped substantially and the similarities of the two types gives the current buyer even more choice.
