Aubusson #18157
By the late 1830’s there was already a tendency toward adding elements that would dominate late Second Empire French carpets: “book-cover” layouts, complex medallion edgings, elaborate corner development. This delightful small antique French rug still has the austere elegance of the earlier pieces, but with a healthy dose of the new trendy designs. The small size allows it to be used on the floor, as a wall-hanging ,or as a furniture throw.
